About the Crew
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Good morning from the shoreline.
Shoreline Crew is a free weekly newsletter about coastal southeastern Connecticut. Every Thursday, one issue covers New London, Groton, Mystic, and Stonington: the events actually worth your time, where to eat and hear music, and the local stories underneath it all.
The first issue went out March 26, 2026. 4,500+ neighbors read it now.
Living somewhere gets better when you know where to go. I want to tell you which farm has music on Sunday, when the fleet gets blessed in Stonington, what’s opening on Bank Street, and who in the next town is doing good work.
That’s the whole mission: surface what matters on the shoreline so people show up for it.
How we’re funded
The newsletter is free and stays free. Local sponsors fund the work: businesses and institutions that want to be in front of readers here. Sponsors buy clearly labeled placements. The stories themselves are never for sale. The Crew is on the same team as the places it covers: when a theater, a farm, or a shop here does good work, my job is to make sure you hear about it and show up for it. If a business appears in a story, it’s because I think it’s worth your time.
Shoreline Crew is independent and locally owned, published by Shoreline Media Group LLC, a Connecticut company. It is not part of a chain or an out-of-state parent company, and no algorithm picks the stories.
Why “Crew”
Because the readers are the point. I spent 12 years in the Coast Guard being part of a crew, and a crew feels bigger than just an email. The Crew is people who choose to be active in our community and stay connected to it, or become connected to it. The Crew sends the photos, votes in the polls, forwards issues to new neighbors, and tips me off to half of what ends up in print. If you know something the shoreline should know, send it in.
Talk Thursday.
